In 1998 the National Business Institute sponsored HOW TO DRAFT WILLS AND TRUSTS a continuing education course for attorneys with Doug as one of the featured lecturers.  In November of 2000 Doug was the lecturer for Lorman Education Services at a one-day seminar for attorneys, bankers, CPAs, insurance and financial planners entitled WYOMING ESTATE PLANNING.  Doug was a featured lecturer on the Wyoming Uniform Trust Code, The Rule Against Perpetuities, The Uniform Principal and Income Act and the Uniform Prudent Investor Act at the Greater Yellowstone Law Institute in  June of 2003 and again in September of 2003 for the Southeast Wyoming Estate Planning Council and the Wyoming State Bar.

Doug formerly served on the Wyoming Estate Planning Advisor Council  (WEPAC).  WEPAC examines problems in the area of estate planning in Wyoming and proposes changes to the Wyoming Legislature.  Many of the changes WEPAC has proposed have been adopted into law and have helped to modernize the laws in Wyoming to help citizens effectively plan their estates and to make more efficient the administration of estates in Wyoming.  In 2003 the Wyoming Legislature passed the Uniform Trust Code and amended the law on the Rule Against Perpetuities.  In addition to helping edit the UTC to meet the needs of Wyoming Doug testified extensively before the Wyoming Legislature regarding the legislation and lobbied for its passage of both the Uniform Trust Code and the amendment to the Rule Against Perpetuities.

1986 Doug was a Legal Delegate for The People to People Program to the Peoples Republic of China, Hong Kong and the Republic of China.  The group lectured on the American system of law and studied and compared our system to that of the hosts.   As guest of the respective governments the group was afforded extraordinary access to the working and gained unique insight to the working of the legal system of each area visited.
